(May 10, 2009) -- New York City--A Mother's Day demonstration brought out caring activists and not-so-peaceful drivers. One in particular took time from his day to stroll up and down the sidewalk videotaping activists and throwing out personal insults. Meanwhile, the horses are working alongside sirens, street performers and drumbeats, buses, and all manner of distressing noises. It brings to mind the fate of Smoothie, a mare who died in September 2007 after being spooked by the sound of drums.... less
